How do I get my Google Ads and Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Tracking Code?

In this article, we will show you how to get your Google Ads and Google Analytics Pixel Code.

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Google Ads use the Google tag (gtag.js) — together with another piece of code, such as an event snippet or a phone snippet — to track your conversions.

When you set up conversion tracking for your website, you’ll be able to view and copy the Google tag for your account.

To create a conversion action in your Google Ads account you need to follow the next instructions:

  1. Sign in to your Google Ads account.

  2. In the upper right corner, click the tools icon, and under "Measurement," click Conversions.

  3. In the summary, click "+ New conversion action".

  4. Choose from the 4 kinds of conversions sources you can track: Website, App, Phone calls, or Import.

  5. Select Website, then click Next.

  6. Enter your website domain and click Scan in order to:

    • Detect if your website has a Google tag.

    • View a list of URLs that you can track as conversions.

  7. You can set up your conversion by using a URL or manually.

Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

Google Analytics now uses GA4, which identifies your property with a Measurement ID that starts with "G-". To find it:

  1. Open your Google Analytics account.

  2. Click the ‘Admin’ tab (the gear icon).

  3. In the Property column, click Data Streams, then select your web data stream.

  4. Your Measurement ID (G-XXXXXXX) appears at the top right of the stream details.

Note: Universal Analytics (Tracking IDs starting with "UA-") was sunset by Google in July 2023 and is no longer available. The screenshot below reflects the legacy Universal Analytics screen and is kept for reference only.
